Reporting standards

Source

Every story carries a source where relevant. Where we cannot verify a story, we say "Unverified" or "Unconfirmed" and explain why.

Timestamp

Every story carries an "Updated" timestamp. If a story changes after first publish, the timestamp moves and a corrections note is added.

Corrections

Substantive errors are corrected with a dated note on the story and on the corrections log.

Reading the news feed

How stories are organised

The news desk covers four beats — Matches, Teams, Players, and Fantasy Tips. Each story is tagged with the beat it primarily serves, but most stories touch multiple beats. A squad update tagged "Teams" is also relevant for fantasy readers (the combination question has moved), and a role-shift story tagged "Players" is also relevant for the team desk (the team's XI has changed).

The news feed is ordered by timestamp — most recent first. The accuracy log on Mondays reviews the week's stories against actual outcomes. The corrections log catches the substantive errors.

Story priority follows the editorial rhythm: match-day stories first, role-shift stories second, long-form analysis third. The match-day window is the highest-traffic period; the role-shift window is the highest-signal period for fantasy readers.
