With the Bengaluru square expected to favour batting, the combination question is whether to play an extra batter or stick with the seventh bowling option. We label the overseas slot Strong indication.

Dew probability is rated low to moderate. The toss decision is closer to a coin flip on conditions; captain orders with the bat on instinct rather than chasing for the chase.

Two teams with old-fashioned finger-spin strengths, two captains who read the chase well, and a MA Chidambaram surface that has held turn in three of four second innings this season. We break down what to watch before toss, the over windows that swing contests, and where fantasy users mis-price wicketkeeper-batters in this fixture.

Captaincy is a contest strategy decision, not a single answer. The safer frame protects your rank; the higher-variance frame is built for grand-league multipliers.
The in-form top-order batter on a flat square, captain order confirmed. Lower ceiling but a higher floor.
The middle-overs all-rounder or death specialist. Big points if the game goes the distance; small if it doesn't.
Captaincy language is scenario-based, not a guaranteed tip. Fantasy contests carry risk.
Death economy 8.4 RPO; reliance on top-order.
MIStrong powerplay, middle-overs rebuild.
RCBFlat Chinnaswamy boosts top-order ceiling.
SRHPowerplay wickets the single biggest factor.
KKREden Gardens conditions suit two tweakers.
RRMulti-skill XI; captaincy complexity rises.
A short list of players whose role — not reputation — puts them on our fantasy watch. Full player coverage lives in the players desk.

Risk labels reflect published confidence; see the fantasy checklist for how to apply them.
The surface has held turn in three of the last four second innings. Expect spinners from both sides in the middle overs; pace bowlers who can skid will hold their value. Boundary length: 64–71m square, 71m straight. Dew forecast minor.
Open the pitch briefApply in order. If a step forces a guess, mark the pick Uncertain and consider downgrading it from captain to vice-captain.
Boundary size, average score, dew, surface behaviour. If the venue rewards pace, weight your seam picks. If it turns, weight your spinners.
Pick the players whose role (batting slot, overs allocated, powerplay/death window) is the clearest. Captaincy goes to the highest-floor role, not the most famous name.
Specific bowler–batter match-ups matter at the margin. A powerplay aggressor against a wicket-taking new-ball bowler is a downgrade candidate if both are available.
If two of your picks share a role and bat in the same window, one of them is unlikely to score fully. Pick the one with the higher floor in that window.
Decide before the toss. Safer captaincy = anchor with a confirmed role. Higher-variance captaincy = all-rounder with a defined powerplay/death window.
After the fixture, compare the actual role each player was given against the preview. A new role is a new signal — update your model, don't argue with the result.
A prediction here is a scenario with conditions, not a guaranteed tip. If the conditions hold, this is what we expect; if they don't, we revise.
Target 175+ is realistic on this surface. Anchor play through overs 7–14 matters more than powerplay aggression; expect a measured total. Spin in middle overs will be the deciding factor for the chase.
Confidence: Strong indication
Powerplay scoring rate becomes the lever. If MI cross 60 in 6 overs without loss, the chase becomes steeper than the venue average. Death-overs batting depth is the swing factor.
Confidence: Strong indication
If dew is heavier than forecast, the chasing side gains a small but real edge in the second innings. Reassess captain picks 30 minutes before toss.
Confidence: Uncertain
If Jadeja bowls his full 4 overs in the middle, his fantasy ceiling jumps. If he's used as a powerplay option instead, the ceiling drops. Watch the bowling order in the first innings.
Confidence: Strong indication
Strike rate, economy, the run value of a six — and how your contest weights them.
Surface colour, grass cover, bounce, boundary size, dew — the six tells we actually use.
Why your vice-captain choice matters as much as the captain pick.
The same player can be a value pick or a trap depending on which window they own.

9 of 11 confirmed as predicted; 2 last-minute changes caught in the day-of update.
Top-3 captain picks averaged 62 fantasy points; grand-league differential hit 91.
Chinnaswamy held true to the spin-light forecast; one toss decision reversed the read at the death.
Two role changes surfaced on match morning; both updated in the day-of XI before lock.
